sweet - this park looks awesome! We just did a little write-up about the Roberts Skatepark. We'd like to make a page for this one too - how do we find out when the grand opening is??

I would love to see more big bowl parks such as this work-of-art. I feel it would really draw out the older, once retired skaters, and even bring their kids, too.

Brian, the manual pad will also double as a ledge (like at Roberts). I agree, it would be nice to be able to hit the slanted ledge on both sides, but unfortunately there’s limited room to work with right there.
There will also be extended ledges from the hubbas, so you can go up the euro gaps or the banks to hit those ledges.

The flat bar (actually, sub rail) was a decision from the bikers. It’s like a sub box extension, but it’s a rail.

It should be fun. I hope you will like it.

They have an updated schedule, that I still need to post.
The park is scheduled to be finished by July 26th.

There are no parts where it’s just stairs. It may be stairs on one side of the rail, but the other will either be a bank or step up gap.

The 7-stair rail with the hubba ledges next to the pool doesn’t seem to have a flat bank on either side of the rail. The drawing looks like there are stairs all the way across. This would be a huge issue come time to skate the “strip.” I also noticed the project schedule is running behind. o,well

looks like a lot of fun but other than the pier 7 part i don’t see any flat ledges at all which is what i like to street skate. so, while i’ll definitely be here a bit, i’m seeing a lack of one of the most standard street obstacles. would also be nice if you could hit the slanted ledge from both sides. the flat bar seems to be oddly placed as well. i’m so out of the loop i had not even heard of this park until yesterday.

Hopefully we can have another park built within five more years….Support D.I.Y. 20th Street Park for 2012…We can make it happen

Just looking at these plans makes me wish that I didn’t fear death when getting back on my ol’ BMX. Exciting nonetheless!
